Performance Upgrades at RPM Wheel & Tire

Some vehicles that we get, have great features to them in the means of power and performance. With advancement in modern vehicle technology, automotive companies are packing in many modifications and performance upgrades to stay competitive in the market. If you have a vehicle that carries your workload every day, your daily commuter, your off-road toy, we have access to thousands of performance upgrades, from industry leading companies. Here are some examples of Performance modifications;

Cool-Air Intake – Improves acceleration off the line and overall vehicle fuel economy.
Before replacing air intakes, it is important to first understand its role in powering an internal combustion engine. To convert fuel into mechanical energy, air intakes are responsible for adding oxygen into the fuel mix. Just like how one cannot start a bonfire without blowing into the kindle, spark plugs cannot start the combustion cycle without oxygen. When there is not enough air, the engine uses up more fuel and cannot run at peak performance.
Most automobiles today are powered by internal combustion engines that turn fuel and air into mechanical energy. While all intakes help in increasing the amount of air that flows through the engine, some intakes have a better configuration than others. Air intakes are generally available in three types: cold, short ram, and stock air intake.

Cat-Back Exhaust – Improved acceleration and Fuel Economy for your vehicle.

A cat back exhaust system is a relatively simple power modification that will free up your exhaust gas flow and produce an engine note that is more pronounced than your stock muffler. The term cat back exhaust can be defined as the section of an exhaust system that attaches after the last catalytic converter in the system. A cat back exhaust is typically made up of a rear-pipe, a resonator and a muffler, but depending on the make and model, it can also include a mid-pipe, X-pipe, H-Pipe or a Y-Pipe.

Strut Tower Braces – Improved handling of the vehicle.

A strut tower bar, also known as a strut brace or strut tower brace, is a common upgrade on many cars and many cars come with one from the factory. However, the question keeps coming up of what a strut bar does, is it worth it, and how does it work? Strut bars are designed to tie the tops of your struts together, to reduce chassis flex which improves handling, acceleration and braking. Strut bars are available in many different configurations – front upper, front lower, rear upper and rear lower.

To improve the handling of your car as you enter turns, you might want to install a strut tower brace, which is located at the top of your front shocks. They work by balancing the forces that are placed on one side of your car to be distributed to the other side. In extremes, this will keep your tires on the ground through a high-speed turn that would normally make the other tire unstable.

Computer Tune/ “Chipped” – Improved performance and fuel economy.

Computers in our cars today control all aspects of its performance and emissions. Newer cars today can be tuned to improve certain aspects of the engine to unlock more horsepower throughout the entire power band. After making modifications like an intake and exhaust, you might want to explore if your car is eligible for a tune. Not all cars are designed for this modification, but many allow aftermarket settings to be written to the computer. There are two primary types of ‘tunes’ for your car: a self-service, pre-made tune and a custom-built Dyno tune by a performance auto shop. Keep in mind that if aftermarket alters are made to the vehicle while under warranty, it may void the warranty. Please check with your auto dealer for more information before making the decision to tune your vehicle.
